An Yesterday I had an Amniocentesis performed on me. Don't let anyone else tell you it doesn't hurt because it does. An amino is where doctors extract amniotic fluid from the placenta to test for things. In my case they are testing to find out if a Diaphragmatic Hernia is Genetic. The amino went well. I started to have muscle contractions when they had the needle in. This was not helpful because the pocket, where they were extracting the fluid, started to shrink. this made the doctors have to twist the needle in order not to get the muscle. OUCH. I started to feel light headed , then hot in the head, and then I threw up. Not the best experience for me.
In case you haven't heard, Josh and I lost our first baby girl due a Diaphragmatic Hernia. Now with this new pregnancy the same problem has been discovered. For those of you who are wondering what a diaphragmatic hernia is, I will explain. It is a whole in the baby's diaphragm that allows organs such as the stomach, intestines and the liver enter the top half of the chest where the heart and lungs are. So far with this pregnancy they can only see the stomach out of place. When they did the amino they did an ultrasound. They also did a blood flow dialysis to find out the direction the blond is flowing. in saver cases the blood flow is shown as a very large arch. allowing the liver to easily move up. In this pregnancy the blood flow arch is not that saver. Giving a better chance of survival

Hi, you don't know me. I saw your blog on Samantha's blog.
I'm glad to hear this is not as severe as your first pregnancy. I pray everything will go well for you and that you come out of this trial with a beautiful baby girl!
I really hope everything works out. I pray for your family every day. That is great news that things aren't quite as bad as last time.
I hope that everything works out okay, Melanie...I had one of the very huge needles stuck in me with Bryce (they are not fun)...Good luck with your pregnancy and I pray that things go the way you would like them to go.
