Ally home from the hospital and Cardiology Appointment
On Friday afternoon last week we finally got to take ally home from the hospital. She was discharged on oxygen and a new feeing schedule. The oxygen I wasn't to happy with. We had just seemed to get her off of it and now she was back on. But I am ok with what they changed feeding wise. Although it is a bit of a set back. Ally has one continuous feed at night instead of 3. She was diagnosed at the hospital with Hypoxia(?) and a fever. I think Hypoxia is just a fancy word for a upper respiratory viral infection. Or to put it more plainly a Cold. After feeding her to much and having her throw it up they finally came up with a good night feeding schedule. She had her nostrils sucked out a lot which she was not very fond of. I even have to do it every morning at home. She gets very upset but I know it helps. She is getting better though. Feeding wise she is doing fantastic. She also has to have her feeds thickened. She eats it better. Monday we had a Cardiology appointment @ 3:15 and did not leave Primary Children's until 5:45. Ally had an echo of her heart performed to see if the VSD (hole) in her heart had healed. And it has. There is no hole that they could see, They also tested her blood pressure in the heart to see how hard the heart and lungs are working. Percent should be 30% or lower and Ally's was 40%. A little heigh. The cardiologist suggested that we stay on oxygen until spring of next year.( I was very disappointed with this) He did tell me to get a pulse oximeter and test her stats and if good stats take her off oxygen during the day and only haver her on at night. I was hoping to not have her on any but I guess this is better than all the time. I just guess I want her to be normal but she is not normal and never will be. I guess I need to get used to the fact that she is going to have more problems than the average kid. She is a miracle and I need to be just grateful to have her. (which I am) But it is going to take a little time to realize that she is different.

To clarify for you, hypoxia is essentially oxygen deprivation at the cellular level in the tissues of the body. It's not a cold or a virus.
Someday hopefully Ally will leave the hospital for a LONG time....
