CHERUBS CDH Conference 2012

Yesterday we just go back from San Francisco California.  We left early Thursday morning at 4:00 am and drove there unit 5:30 pm.  Gracie did wonderful all except the last 45 min.  She was done.  On the way there we stopped for Breakfast.  I went into the restroom to change Gracie.  I grabbed her cast and pulled slightly while changing her.  Then next thing I new it was off.  It was to early to call the doctor so we called later.  They told us to cut it and duck tape it on, get a new one or very last option to rap it up ourselves.  We had nothing to cut it with, and didn't know where to go so we waited until we at least got to the hotel.  This was also the second cast that has been put on her.  In Reno Nevada we decided to stop for lunch.  This took longer than expected because every freeway offramp was closed.  Traffic was horrible in San Francisco and took a long time to get through. One the way we also almost ran out of gas. We finally got to our hotel got in our room and then went straight to the Meet and Greet at the conference.  We finally got to meet the founder of CHERUBS,  the charity we belong to. We met lots of other servitors and parents as well.  After it was late so we went right to bed.  We decided to wait until the morning to get Gracie's cast back on.  At midnight Gracie woke up Screaming.  We took her to the nearest ER we could find.  They took X-rays and put a splint on Gracie's foot.

 Friday we had another conference with a couple of researchers.  After the conference we all took a much needed nap.  When Gracie woke up from her nap, she had completely pooped through her outfit.    That afternoon we went to Pier 39.  On our way Gracie pooped through her second outfit and on to her carseat. At the pier we went to the aquarium and walked to Ghiridlelli Square.  Gracie loved the aquarium and learned the word Fish.  She also managed to get out of her splint.  We didn't want to go back to the ER so I just did my best to put it back on.  We decided that Monday when we were home we would get another cast.

Saturday we had round table at the conference.  After we decided to go see the Redwood trees at Muer Woods.  We didn't want to drive all the way there and park so we decided to take the shuttle up and back.  We ate lunch there which cost a fortune and walked the path for an our.  Then we headed back to the shuttle stop.  We waited for a long time.  Finally a bus came.  The bus driver asked for one of the two parking lots we were in the line for.  It wasn't our stop so we didn't get on board.  People in the back of the line who were on that stop boarded.  Which then everyone decided not to stand in line and move to the front of the lane.  Then the bus driver called for our stop.  So everyone in the back of the line ran and got on the bus.  This was very upsetting for the people in the front of the line because we had been waiting for 40 min.  Stupid people.  Also the shuttle was like taking a roller coster with no seat belts.

Sunday we had the last of our conference and then headed home.  We got talking and didn't realize the time.  We left the Hotel at 2:30.  Driving home Josh missed a junction and we ended up at the Lake Tahuo town. So we had a very slow start.  at about 9 pm. we stopped at Winnamucca, NV to eat.  We decided to stay sunday night and leave Monday morning early.

Monday we left at 7 am and got home at 2.  We unloaded the car and then I went back to Primary's to get another cast for Gracie.  By this time Gracie was done with being in the car.  The cast Gracie has now is above the knee.  So hopefully this one will stay on.

All in all we had a good time.  It was quite a strange trip.  But the conference made up for everything.
