Gracie's fall

Last Saturday July 14th Gracie and took a trip to Hobby Lobby.  I needed to get a few things that I needed to make.  I have been trying to sell my wipe cases, pinkie clips, and car seat covers on Facebook and had sold some.  I needed supplies to make them.  Gracie and I went to the fabric section and I started looking for fabric.  I had left Gracie in the cart thinking that she would be fine.  I turned around and saw that she was no longer in the cart.  Scared to death I ran to the cart.  Gracie was on the floor on her stomach caught underneath one of the fabric displays.  I picked her up and started to cuddle her.  She was crying very hard and it took me quite some time to calm her down.  I was worried that she had hit her head.  We were at the check out and I mentioned to the clerk what happened.  She told me that her friends son fell from his highchair and 2 days later he was dead.  She told me that I should take her to the ER and had me talk to the Manager. The manager had me fill out some paper work and we left.  I didn't know what to do.  I was so scared that she might have brain damage or something.  I called my sister and my mom and went to my parents.  She had calmed down a little but I still was uneasy about it.  So I decided to take her to the Instacare.  Josh wasn't to happy because we had just changed our insurance to the high deductible and he was worried about how much it would cost.  The instacare told me that I should go straight to Primary Children's just to make sure everything was ok.  We went to Primary's ER.  I was a little un easy to go there because I haven't been to the ER since Ally.  They gave Gracie a CAT scan and did some x rays.  As we waited they told us that her CAR scan was normal and they couldn't see anything on the x rays.  They started to feel her feet for any broken bones.  When they touched just above Gracie's left ankle she started to scream.  They then took another look at the x ray and noticed a tiny fracture just above her ankle.  They splinted it up and told us to make an appointment the next week at the fracture clinic. She was fine after it was made immobile.  Wednesday July 18, Gracie's Birthday, she got a permeant purple cast.

Poor baby! That is so sad. Joseph had a cast on for his first birthday, too, from twisting his ankle while going down the slide at the park. I'm glad she wasn't hurt any worse than that, what a scary thing! Her giraffe party looked darling, by the way. I can't believe she is 1 already! What a cute girl. :)

Sad! You are lucky however because the 2 most common causes of severe head injuries in babies are falling from shopping carts and falling from high chairs. So I'm glad that she only ended up with a fracture since it could have been much worse!

Also, I must say that I loved your cute party decorations, the giraffes were adorable, and I sure hope that Gracie had a happy birthday! :)
