My New Years Accident

So on Jan. 1, 2013 I went swimming at our St. George vacation home's heated pool.  It was so much fun.  Weird to be swimming in a out door pool in Jan.  I took Gracie swimming as well and she had a blast.  My mom, dad and my sisters three oldest were swimming as well.  We were getting a little cold so I decided to get out, dry off, and then get Gracie out.  I got out dried off a little and then went to the side of the pool to get Gracie out.  While I was getting her out I slipped and fell on the wet concrete.  My motherly in stink kicked in and I sacrificed myself to save Gracie from the fall.  I had a hard time catching my breath after the fall.  I had landed right on my left elbow and my pelvis.  Gracie immediately started to cry and my dad jumped out to grab her and get her calm and warm.  I sat there for a bit in massive pain.  After I had caught my breath I stood up and slowly made my way into the house.  I was terrified that Gracie had received a concussion or that she had broken something.  My dad calmed her down and we checked her puepuls for dilation and for broken bones.  She seemed to be ok. I then noticed that I could not move my left elbow.  I also notice some bleeding from my pelvis.  I took it easy that day.  I decided not to go in to the ER or instacare and see if it felt better the next day.  It still hurt bad the next day so my mom and I took a trip to the Instacare.  4 hours later I got in to the doctor.  The doctor examined my elbow and was a little concerned because of the swelling and that I couldn't face my palms up.  He then sent me to get X-rays.  X-rays were very painful.  After the doctor took a look and didn't see that anything was broken.  He told me that sometimes it takes a week to tell because the injury was so new.  He said that he would have a Radiologist look at it and if they found something they would call me. He told me to ice and elevate it.   I kind of wished I had broken something.  Would have made the 4 hour wait worth something.  It is so weird.  It seems that every couple of years or so I seem to have something happen to me over the Holidays.  When I was pregnant with Evie I had 2 threatened miscarriages 2 days before Christmas and was on bed-rest until New Years.  A couple of years after that.  On the day after Christmas I slipped and fell at work and missed the rest of the week.  And now the elbow fiasco.  So now I will be getting different colored bruises on my elbow, in the shape of a target.

I'm glad you're okay, that sounds scary! I hope it feels better as it heals. Gracie has gotten so big and is such a pretty little girl! I miss you, hope I can see you next time I'm in town! :)
